Driving while suspended

Driving while suspended

The Court: Melbourne Magistrates’ Court
The Date: July 2025
The Charges:

  1. Road Safety Act 30(1) – driving while suspended
Possible penalties our client was facing:
Charge 1:
  1. A fine of up to $48,842.40
  2. Up to 2 years imprisonment
The Facts of the case:

Our client was pulled over by the police on the Westgate Bridge. His licence was suspended a month before for drink driving.

Our client believed that he had 28 days before his licence was suspended and was unaware it was suspended on the spot prior to this.

Result in Court:

The court imposed a $900 fine and did not interfere with our client’s licence. The client was pleased as he couldn’t afford for his licence to be suspended longer than it already was for a previous offence.
